LOCAL 5K/10K GROWS, CONTINUES TO HELP FEED THE HUNGRY

Hattiesburg, Miss. (, 2016) The Annual Hunger Run benefitting Extra Table has become a staple fall event in Hattiesburg, with even more promise to grow this year. In it’s 4th year, the run will feature a 5K route for runners, a 10K race and 1 Mile Fun Run with several award-winning divisions.

Last year, the Hunger Run saw close to 200 runners participate and raised a record $5400 in proceeds that were donated to Extra Table, with hopes to down that number this year.

Quote from Mike about what that means for Extra Table

This year, the Hunger Run will take place on Saturday, November 12 starting at 2:00pm at the Thirsty Hippo in Downtown Hattiesburg. While the event is still several weeks away, participants are encouraged to sign up in advance in order to take advantage of unique discounted prices.

“The Hunger Run is a great event for several reasons — it’s a fun course that winds through downtown and some of the historic neighborhoods and the registration fee includes free live music, beer from Southern Prohibition Brewery, soft drinks from Coca-Cola, and all-you-can-eat BBQ,” said Sarah Newton, race organizer for the Thirsty Hippo. “Most importantly, participants help raise money to help those in need which is especially important around the holidays.  If you register early, you can get all this for just $20!”, Newton continued.

Super early bird registration are only $20 for registration and are available now through September. Each participant in the race is invited to enjoy a free after party, which will feature free all-you-can-eat local barbeque, unlimited beer from Southern Prohibition Brewery, soft drinks provided by Hattiesburg Coca Cola and live music. The post-race party is open to the public and tickets can be purchased for $20 for adults and $15 for those under 21.
