Extra Table has recently had the pleasure of encountering a local artist, Mr. Clint Martin.  Mr. Martin designed a Mississippi car tag for the Red Tail Fighter Pilots of WWII, and has chosen Extra Table to receive the proceeds from the sales of each car tag.  Below is information provided by Mr. Martin on both the license plate and Mr. Martin himself:

“Clint Martin was born 1939  in McComb, Mississippi. His association with The Tuskegee Airmen began as a kid in his hometown. Clint was Historian/Consultant for HBO’S movie “Tuskegee Airmen,” and has permanent displays nationwide of model aircrafts flown by the airmen.  His art is located at the following locations: Smithsonian, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., National Museum U.S.A.F., Dayton, Ohio, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, Mississippi Museum of Fine Arts, Jackson, Mississippi, Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Hattiesburg/Laurel Regional Airport, Jackson/ Evers Airport, Jackson, Mississippi, “D” Day Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana, William Carey University, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, McComb Library, McComb, Mississippi, University of California, Riverside, California,  public schools throughout Mississippi, United States Air Force Academy, Biloxi/Gulfport Airport, Oak Grove Library, Moten Air Field, Tuskegee, Alabama, State of Mississippi War Memorial Bldg., Jackson, Mississippi, and the state Capital of Mississippi. The purpose of the automobile license plate is to recognize the contributions the airmen made to the country during WW11. The term “Red Tail” became the color of the aircraft they flew; nose and tail were painted solid red for identification of the 332nd Fighter Group.
