In 2012, Mississippi artist Kristen Ley opened Thimblepress, a Jackson-based company specializing in gift and party products. Dressing up as an artist at her kindergarten career day was the first step Kristen took in the direction of being an artist as a profession. She knew at an early age what creating art and beautiful things meant. Thimblepress started as a hobby and a passion for Kristen to create products that truly are an expression of her personality. Today, Thimblepress has products in over 1,500 retail outlets worldwide, and she coaches and mentors many creatives. Forrest General and Extra Table are celebrating health in a big way for 2020. The two have joined forces to highlight how healthy food choices affect overall health and wellness. The partnership was formed to honor Extra Table’s 10 years of providing healthy food to Mississippi’s most food-insecure residents.
“In Mississippi, hunger and obesity exist simultaneously,” Extra Table Executive Director Martha Allen stated referring to Mississippi being one of the most food insecure states as well as one of the most obese. “Our food choices have great implications on our overall health.”
