And to our partners in healthcare, Forrest General! This tshirt fundraiser is in direct response to the need for food here in the Pine Belt and throughout Mississippi. Forrest General and Extra Table have a strong relationship and work daily to emphasis how healthy food choices affect overall health and wellness. The partnership was formed to honor Extra Table’s 10 years of providing healthy food to Mississippi’s most food-insecure residents.
#NowMoreThanEver Extra Table needs funds to support sending fooding to the 40 food pantries and soup kitchens that depend on the regular deliveries of shelf-stable staples in order to feed the clients they serve. There is a great need right now for food and good food. Food that supports growth and meets nutritional requirements as well as the needs of those struggling with obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. In one-week, Good Samaritan Jackson has gone from 150 meals to 232 with an added 58 kids. Edward’s Street in Hattiesburg has added 65 new households and distributed 1,949 bags of food. On average, Edward’s Street distributes 3,000 bags per month. From March 1-24, they have already distributed 2,705 bags with 5 distribution days to go. The numbers show the dire need.
