The Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera brings the beloved novel by Victor Hugo to the Hub City with their stage adaptation of Les Miserables. The musical follows the journey of a French man whole stole a loaf of bread for his sister’s hungry child. After serving 19 years in jail, Les Miserables brings a timeless story of redemption, grace, and justice.

With some of the most talented performers in the city, HCLO brings the excitement of the Big Apple right to Hattiesburg. Opening night will be on Thursday May 8, 2014 at 7:30 pm at Hattiesburg’s Historic Saenger Theatre. Performances on May 8-10 will begin at 7:30 pm with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm on May 11, 2014.

Set in the 19th– century France, Les Miserables tells us something very big. Hunger has been a problem for a very long time. We are fighting to change that. Mississippi leads the nation with the largest number of food insecure people. In fact, there are 210,350 children in Mississippi that will receive a school lunch and go to sleep hungry. Together, we can make sure all children in Mississippi go to sleep with a full stomach.

Extra Table could not be more excited to partner with HCLO as they present Les Miserables. We will have a table in the lobby during all performances. Be sure to stop by and talk with us about how you can help us feed the hungry. We look forward to having you join us in the fight against hunger.
